Today, I wanted to shout about the small things that we are doing to help our distillery’s impact. In my experience, small businesses can get overwhelmed thinking they need to make major changes to their energy use to succeed in making a difference. Many people say to me, where do you start? I suggest starting where you can and if that’s making a change to the smaller building blocks that make up your total impact, so be it.
Our Operations Manager, Maggie and I recently switched our waste solutions provider to Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd: a local, sustainable company that are focussing on reducing their own impact. They are currently in planning to build their own Material Recycling Facility on site so that they can avoid using 3rd parties and prevent the extra vehicle mileage that would be involved to do that. In turn, and by working with suppliers like this, we can limit our Scope 3 emissions.
