Secret Garden Distillery's Pinot Noir Gin Wins Silver at the 2023 Great British Food Awards

Secret Garden Distillery Pinot Noir luxury pink gin wins a silver award at the Great British Food Awards 2023

Secret Garden Distillery team is excited to announce that their Pinot Noir gin was revealed today as a 2023 Great British Food Awards Silver Award winner.

This beautiful gin was created by the Secret Garden Distillery from the 2022 grape harvest grown on site in their Edinburgh glassgouse and steeped in gin for 12 months before being crafted into a really special liquid. Head of Sales Daniel Cunningham explains what sets this gin apart, revealing, “The delicate hue is entirely natural, derived from the grape jus. Unlike other red and black grape varieties, Pinot Noir grapes impart a unique subtlety that shines through in every sip. After tasting it, we decided that 46% ABV is the sweet spot for this year’s liquid.”

The Great British Food Awards panel added “it's not just the drink itself that deserves recognition either. Care and thought have also gone into the design of the bottle, with beautifully illustrated botanicals tying in the distillery's strong focus on nature. The fact the labels are made from 30% grass and the security seal is biodegradable are also nice touches.  All in all, it's a truly outstanding and unique gin, and one we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.”

Imogen Armstrong, one of the owners at the Distillery, told us “we are so proud to win this award. Among our staff, this gin is a firm favourite and we are so excited to have this external recognition. The award belongs to each member of our team that put their blood, sweat and tears into crafting this product.”

To fully appreciate the magic of the Pinot Noir Gin, Secret Garden Distillery recommend serving it with a light tonic and a garnish of fresh raspberries. Let the flavours dance on your palate and allow the aroma to transport you to the heart of the vineyard. It also pairs beautifully in a Negroni – you can find the recipe for this on their website. Customers on Distillery socials have also mentioned that this is one gin they like to drink neat on the rocks!

Pinot Noir Gin is currently exclusively available to buy on the Secret Garden Distillery’s web site at https://secretgardendistillery.co.uk/. It is for sale at £27.70 until end of October.

Pinot Noir Gin:

Nose: Rich and fruity
Taste: Balanced
Finish: Succulent red fruits

A truly unique gin for a wine-lover looking for something different or for a gin lover that loves wine. We grow Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes in the Distillery’s glasshouse. These grape varieties are traditionally associated with the Champagne region, and create some of the most beautiful wines. We think we have created a truly outstanding gin that combines the best of our gin with our grape harvest.

Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes were harvested by hand in 2021 and then left for a year to soak in our base gin of Juniper, Coriander, Angelica Root and Winter Savory. It has been racked and settled then filtered several times before bottling, with all the colour and flavour coming from the grape jus. The delicate pink colour of the gin this year needed no extra petal infusions it was perfection just as nature intended. Pinot Noir grapes have a lower skin anthocyanin (colouring) content than most other classical red/black varieties.

This year we've decided it tastes best at 46% ABV. The team all agree - this is our best season yet for the Pinot Noir.

And remember - there are no added sugars, artificial colourings, flavourings or additives….just nature distilled.
